·        PKSF maintains a complete database of training information provided by PKSF.
·        The outstanding training demand of POs, resource pool, resource persons grading, course evaluation etc. are recorded in the database.
·        Very recently comprehensive software is being used for preserving multi-dimensional information of trainings provided by PKSF, by POs own arrangement and from other sources. This information is very much helpful in assessing the capacity level of the individual and the respective organization’s Human Resources.

7.0 Contribution in other relevant areas:

7.1 Lobbying for appropriate policies and regulations useful for the expansion of microfinance sector: 

PKSF lobbies with the Government for appropriate policies and regulation for Microfinance Sector. The Government has established an independent “Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA)” for regulation of the Sector. PKSF is an important member of this Authority, and contributing to help the Government to prepare a microfinance-friendly regulatory framework.

7.1  Gender Equality: 

From its very inception PKSF has recognized the fact that without the active participation of women who are 50% of the country's population, any development program would not be able to achieve its objectives. SO, PKSF encouraged its partners to target women in their programs. As a result, more than 90% of the beneficiaries of different programs of its partners are women. PKSF is therefore playing an important role in empowering of women.


7.2  GO-NGO Partnership:

PKSF has very successfully established and developed GO-NGO collaboration in the field of poverty alleviation and employment generation through the provision of implementing different programs including microcredit.


Developing best practices for microcredit management and operations of MFIs:

 Developing best practices for microcredit management and operations of MFIs:

PKSF has developed performance indicators and standards for its POs in different areas with a view to assessing their overall institutional strength. Moreover, PKSF has prepared a number of guidelines and policies to improve its own credit operations and that of its POs. Some of these policies, guidelines, and standards can in fact improve the performance of microcredit industry as a whole and become basis for a legal framework for microcredit industry. These guidelines/ policies/ standards have been prepared based on the field experiences and in consultation with PKSF POs and other stakeholders of the sectors.
Moreover, PKSF reviews its policies and programs continuously and adjusts them to meet the changing requirements. PKSF in the last decade has prepared a number of policy guidelines and standards for the microcredit sector based on the felt needs involving the practitioners - PKSF staff members and POs representatives and officials. PKSF has a program to develop standards in further areas and review and revise ones already prepared. Major policy guidelines and standards prepared by PKSF are:


  • Accounts manual for POs.
  • TORs for POs audit by PKSF internal audit team.
  • TORs for external audit of POs and PKSF.
  • Accounts manual for PKSF (With the International Standard).
  • Loan classification and provisioning policy of PKSF and POs.
  • Procurement policy.
  • Guidelines for selection of POs and borrowers for Rural, Urban Ultra poor, Microenterprise and seasonal loan.
  • Policy for Loan Classification and Debt Management Reserve;
  • Guideline for Designing Internal Control System for POs of PKSF;
  • Guidelines for Management of Savings;
  • Guidelines for Management of Service Charge Earnings;
  • Guidelines for Avoiding Overlapping;

2.0  Institutional Development Loan Programs:


·        PKSF implements loan program for its POs institutional development at the rate of 7%, 6% & 5% interest on the basis of categories of POs (A, B & C). This loan is sanctioned for its POs to buy computers, motorcycles, bicycles, and engine boats, photocopiers and for the construction of training complex that helps the POs in smooth operation of Microcredit.


3.0 Computerized system support:

PKSF is implementing an improved computerized management information system for PKSF and its POs. The activities under this programs are:

Ø      Procurement of hardware
Ø      Design of software
Ø      Development of software
Ø      Installation of software
Ø      Creation of LAN facilities at PKSF office.
Ø      Creation of data center at PKSF


4 .0 Researches:



·        PKSF gives much importance on research for institutional development of MC sector. The objective of research program is to strengthen and support the Financial & Non-financial program of PKSF and its POs.

·        The purposes of research are also to determine the impacts of microcredit and other social development interventions and to prepare manual for POs for effective implementation of their various poverty reduction and employment generation activities.

·        Under a Research Wing of PKSF the research activities are performing.

·         Meanwhile PKSF has established the “Institute of Microfinance (InM)” to conduct research in microfinance sector and improve knowledge base of this sector.

Workshops/Seminars PKSF

5.0       Workshops/Seminars:


PKSF regularly organizes workshops, Seminar & Brain-storming sessions on different areas of poverty reduction and employment Generation programs covering Microcredit Management and Social Development activities with view to make the POs aware and to make them capable to run their programs in different challenging environment in sustainable manner.


Training Wing of PKSF:





·        PKSF’s training wing is headed by Deputy Managing Director (Admin. & Finance).
·        The wing is supported by a Seven-member team-(1 Deputy General Manager, 1 Manager, 1 deputy Managers, 1 Assistant Manager, 2 officers and one junior officers).

1.8 Training Venue:


·    The training venue is located at PKSF's complex with facilities to organize two batches training simultaneously; one is residential, while another is non-residential. Each batch consists of 25 participants.
·     In order to provide trainings against huge volume of demands, PKSF has selected 30 associate training institutes throughout the country. Most of them are from its POs for outsourcing the trainings.


1.9 Training Need Assessment:

PKSF regularly assesses the Training Needs of the POs’ staff. Based on the TNA; PKSF updates the modules on regular basis.
                                                                                 
1.10 Training Calendar of PKSF:


·         On regular basis for each year, PKSF collects the training demands from its POs in order to prepare a yearly training calendar for implementation.
·        On the basis of training demands along with considering some other factors, then Yearly Training Calendar (YTC) is prepared.

   
1.11 Training expenses:


·        From the inception, the total training expenses for all kinds of training were borne by PKSF.
·        Gradually through evaluating the capability and financial sustainability recently PKSF is charging a percentage of training expenses (80%, 50% & 30%) according to the respective category of POs (A, B & C).


1.13 Library:

PKSF has a library enriched with literatures and publications on poverty alleviation and microfinance issues, so that PKSF staffs can keep themselves updated about the latest development in these areas. Besides the staff, researchers and scholars interested in poverty alleviation and microcredit can also use PKSF library.
